Georges Massouh, who ever he is. <br />This is what I ment by demanding one's right to live as a Christian in a predominatly Mouslem country such as Syria or Egypt, and not sit back passively and wait to see if your future on this earth depends on the generosity and charity of the Muslems towards the Christians who they call "kāfirs". <br />It is true that our grandparents(and their grandparents before them) had to pay a jizya tax in order to remain Christians. It is also a fact that many Christians could not afford to pay this tax and they either had their lands confiscated or convert to Islam.<br />However, as a whole, Islam was much more kind to us than the Latins (Roman Catholics) who had turned us into serfs and confiscated our Orthodox churches and Monasteries.<br />Between the two, the Latins were much more worse than the Muslems towards the Orthodox.<br />It is sad, however, to see this discrimination going on in this part of the world up to present day and one must still suffer because of his/her religion.NOCTOChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17578909479350656439noreply@blogger.com
